I hope you don't mind that i süread your video on the current discussion on spectrum around NPC crew. I think you did a very good job in colllecting all the informations and compile them into a single video. It is of course by no means a full factual video about how things will be in the future but a good start and pretty close to show the plans and ideas for SC in terms of NPC crew.

Are we sure we'd have to pay our crews when we're offline? That just sounds like people would have to practically live online just to keep up with that expense. I'm not sure CIG would be that cynical about its players.

Bedding logging can't be removed, or what are beds for? If you can log out anywhere what prevents people from just logging to avoid getting killed? What's the point of beds then?

The old question: will an AI ship be able to compete vs a human crewed ship....Well given how hairbrained and how truely idi...c some people around the verse act all the time it will be REALY hard to make NPCs that bad without making them completely broken bugged.

I only need NPC crew to do one thing: can fly a ship follow me when I say follow, and halt when I say halt. nothing else. I think it can be arranged. (A lot of people released NPC would be nice for multicrew ship, but what I'm looking at is, a lot of us, have more than one ship, especially for total PVE player, a money maker plus a hauler combination is VERY COMMON, I don't care if my NPC can fly the snob ship, snob ship sucks it can't QT. I care that when I drive my reclaimer, can my NPC drive my Ironclad follow me to the salvage site. THAT is all it matters and that makes buying more than one ship become a lot more practical. )

You can convey my words to the CIG. I'm basically a solo player and I don't really like PvP because it's stressful, i.e. playing with a live player is always unpredictable, which is why you're under a lot of stress. As an adult, I like the plot and immersion more, which is why I am a big fan of games such as Wing Commander, Freelancer and the X series of games. In them, I interact exclusively with AI and the gameplay completely relaxes me and I enjoy the interactivity of the world and the plot. In general, I accept the presence of other players, but only in PvE mode. Why don't I like PvP? Because in addition to space and mine, I also love RTS and the famous Starcraft series of games (I hope you guessed that I generally like management and interaction?😏) and looking at PvP in starcraft, when a real player is looking for a way to beat you, he starts building up farm passages and sending armadas of flying bases at you, overloading your air defense..) If this works, I am going to hire 1,000 npcs, to fill my fleet of warships. And I'll never interact with another player if I can help it. Getting 10 real people to login and work on your ship is hard. But NPCs are just ready to go 24/7

So... is this why server meshing is so important? because each NPC needs its own super computer controlling its incredibly advanced AI?

why dont they fix firs the combat enemy AI which is standing still until you kill them or they fly directly to you and ram you in space.....THEN move on to develop something different

Not sure I am happy that we can have full NPC crews AND they will be better than humans as I feel that will discourage people from multicrew gameplay if they are rich enough. That said, if it is exorbitantly expensive then that may be a decent enough countermeasure

Elite Dangerous has ship launched fighters. Star Shitizen has bugs when trying to recover the fighter. Elite Dangerous has ship to ship refueling. Vehicle terducken has bugs that makes ships go boom. You can fly around a planet seamlessly in Elite Dangerous. Star Shitizen has loading screens but you're just not smart enough to see them. Star Shitizen does not allow you to freely fly around a planet or moon but you can do this in Elite Dangerous.

Alot of what was said about npc crew, was during the era where CR and the devs literally walked on cam, said some shit without anything to really show or back for it, and many of things they have already reverse course on. I'll be taking the whole npc crew with a mountain of salt.

NPC Crew is never happening. It will get cut to get to a minimal viable product aka 1.0 as soon as they can. Time has run out and the sharks are circling.

Well If the implement half this, when will you have time to play the game. I sometimes wonder if the goal is to make the games miserable enough to make real life look like a vacation.

Between my javelin and polaris, the main NPC roles I plan on hiring are engineers and maybe security detail and each set of NPCs will have a player in charge of them. Bridge crew will be 100% player. But I don't buy giant ships with the plan of being the captain much. You dont walk around the ship much as the captain.
